A member of the Philippine Bar, with approximately 17 years legal experience particularly in labor, civil and criminal litigation, and tax, contract and corporate law, and intellectual property law.
Lani’s extensive experience in labor practice include providing advice to companies on labor standards and labor relations, conducting administrative investigations on company personnel, assisting in union issues, including, but not limited to, collective bargaining agreement (CBA) negotiations, certification elections, and assisting clients in labor arbitration and litigation.
Lani assists clients in drafting, reviewing and negotiating various contracts and agreements and in corporate rehabilitation and liquidation cases. In addition, she assists clients secure corporate registrations with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), comply with its regulatory requirements, and register and comply with the regulatory requirements of other related government agencies. She also advises clients in relation to Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) registrations and other applicable fiscal incentives.
Lani advises clients on the tax implications of their various transactions. She also assists them with their tax protests and represents them before the Court of Tax Appeals.
In addition, Lani assists clients with their intellectual property registrations, including trademark / trade name and industrial design registrations with the Intellectual Property Office. She also has extensive experience in family law cases, such as declaration of nullity of marriages, custody and support, and applications for protection orders.
Lani advised clients in the following industries: business process outsourcing, hotels carrying international brands, banking, multi-national trading, car sales and service centers, manufacturing, including, but not limited to, electronic and semi-conductor companies, and the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas.
Lani is formerly a senior attorney at Alonso and Associates and was an attorney at Yngson and Associates. She was a lecturer on labor law, with a focus on hotel and restaurant operations, at the College of St. Benilde, and is also a Philippine Certified Public Accountant. Lani obtained a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of the Philippines, College of Law and a Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree from the University of Nueva Caceres, graduating cum laude.
